Sun Screen
Does tanning still damage your skin if you’re wearing sun screen?

I know that if you don’t wear sun screen and tan that you do get alot of sun damage and that it’s bad. I live in Arizona and it’s really hot here and I always wear sunscreen but I still tan especially on my legs by walking around outside. Is tanning still damaging if you’re wearing sun screen?

Yes, wearing sunscreen whilst tanning kind of defeats the object of wearing sunscreen. You want to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. That doesn’t mean no sunshine, but tanning is basically damaging your skin from radiation. In the long term this can cause cell mutations in the skin that leads to breakdown of collagen and elastin tissues in the skin (i.e. sagging, wrinkles and sallow complexion) not to mention possibility of developing skin cancer.

Sorry, didn’t want to lecture you. But I’m talking from personal experience and would like to stop anyone else from making the same mistakes I have done. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run, trust me.
