Many TV series and movies about Rome feature an all-British cast. Why is this the case?
I noticed the production crew is Italian but the actors all Brits. Examples: I, Claudius and Rome, the HBO series. Can Italians in Italy answer this question.
while I’m not an Italian or in Italy I think I can answer this anyway. the simple reason is that in order for the shows to air in America or the UK, they would probably be best if the shows were recorded in English not Italian. I know they could use subtitles but that would cost money. the reason why the film in Italy is that they have several film studios that have several studios that are already set up to look like ancient Rome. plus they have many of the actual places that were in ancient Rome.
