What kind of radios are these?
im trying to find a type of PTT radio carnivals use, School faculty use, Employees use and Security guards use. all i can ever find is the 2 way radios but i need more like 5, Headphone Compatible. like if i said it, everyone with a radio will hear it. thanks in advance
“2 way radio” just means that they are transmit and receive – TWO WAY.
There are a couple ways you can go here, FRS is the Family Radio Service, any NON BUSINESS user can use these, itis one big party-line, anyone on the channel can hear or talk to you. So-called “privacy codes” do not prevent someone from hearing you if they turn their “privacy codes” off. In the business world these are CTCSS, Motorola calls it PrivateLine, GE calls it ChannelGuard.
FRS radios can be found at the big box stores such as WalMart, K Mart, Meijers.
Another free option is MURS – Multi User Radio Service. These are the “color dot” radios you buy at the big box hardware stores. Anyone can use MURS. The wireless intercom used by McDonalds is on MURS.
FRS & MURS do not require a FCC license, pretty much anything goes, but they are still regulated by the FCC and you must obey the rules.
Then there is licensed services, GMRS and Itinerate Business., both require a license, GMRS is $80.00 for 5 years, and I do not know what IB is these days.
