Mile Walkie

Mile Walkie
My friend has a Uniden walkie talkie. I have a Motorola walkie talkie. Can we properly communicate?

I have a Walkabout T6510 Motorola walkie talkie (10 miles) and my friend has a GMR635-2CK Uniden Walkie talkie (6 miles). We live 8 miles away driving, and 3 miles away as the crow flies, and we are both on Channel 16. We are trying to talk to each other, but it won’t work. What to do?
I think we are in range, because we live 3 miles apart, and we have 10 mile range, and 8 mile range. It should be working……
Do we have to put in ’sub’ channels? Like 16, 30 or something? Out walkie talkies have the main number, and then smaller numbers after.
The batteries are fully charged.

Just because you use the same channel number does not mean you are on the same frequency, and frequency is what matters. Get the radios close together(about 100 ft. apart) leave 1 radio on channell 1 and call it from each channell on the other one. If there is no match switch the first radio to channell 2 and try again etc. You may find several frequencys that match, or none.
