What cable do I use to connect my antenna to my router?
I need to contact my router antenna is mounted outside my home, my linksys router located inside. The distance needed to cover is about 10 feet. The connector on my antenna is N-Male. The connector on the back of my linksys router is a man of transnational corporations. It will be 768 Kbps Internet access. I have found RG-6 quad shielded coaxial cables and cable that looks the best for my situation. If this is not the best, please notify me. What that RG-8? Thank you in advance
RG-6 Quad is too large and will not work with most of the ends, try RG-6 / U (Regular shielded) or even RG-58 or RG-59. RG-58 and RG-59 are thinner, but will work fine for the distance you need to cover. I suppose you want to make the cable yourself? If yes, you need some tools: Coax Coax Crimper Cuter / Stripper 1 N-1 TNC male connector female connector 11 feet of coaxial cable (let you additional so you do not have to stretch and pull the cable too tight) I would even be 12-15 feet just to be sure. Band on a ¼ inch cable from the cable ends and crimp the ends. You can find tips online. A quick search gave me this site: http://www.baproducts.com/rf-conn.htm # 21 Good Luck!
