entering lat/lon into gps?
My garmin e trex legend requires me to enter a total of 7 numbers per latitude coordinate and 8 for longitude.The book I am usung for my coordinates only give 6 for lat and 7 for lon.The difference is after the decimal point.For example,my book gives me a series of numbers 41degrees 44.64′ so do I have to enter this as 41deg 44.640′ or 41 deg 44.064′? thanks for any help.
Put a zero on the end.
Your book isn’t interested getting you on the spot apparently so it doesn’t really matter. You may end up being off by as much as 60 feet latitude or I think about 45 feet longitude (for the middle latitudes) Combine that with the accuracy of the gps reciever, and you’ll be in the ballpark at least.
