What is the best handheld GPS to buy for hiking?

I want to buy a handheld GPS to take off, it does not need to adapt on the dashboard of my car. Is there one that is easy to use without all kinds of complicated functions I need not just so that I get not lost? He needs long battery life and if possible, not made in China.

If depends if you want maps. Cheapest are not of color, you can plot points and roads, and record tracks (like a trail of breadcrumbs) so you can at least after your way back if your direct path to your starting point is blocked. Better to have the color maps. Topo maps are best for hiking, because they show smaller roads, paths, small rivers and streams, etc. and elevations. You can take a look at the Delorme PN-20 delorme.com (which come with topo maps) and Garmin eTrex series. ETrex mapping models do come with a base map of major roads and bodies water main, unless provided with maps. H is a high sensitivity, C is the color, and x means it can use a memory card and has the longest life battery (25 hours on 2 AA batteries). Check ebay for bargains. I got a new eTrex HCx bundle comprising Lengend 12V cable suction cup, and City Navigator NT (street) maps for less elsewhere without the extras. But I had topo maps.
