Honda Accord LX 2.3L 4dr A/T,140k miles. Temperature gauge instantly goes from cold to hot after ignition?
I have a Honda Accord LX 2.3L 4dr A/T, 140k miles. Recently I found the temperature gauge goes from cold to hot about 15 sec after ignition. When I touch the radiator and hose connected, they’re still cold or warm at most. The “check engine” lamp is off. So I don’t know where to check.
this sounds like an electrical problem: you’ve got a short somewhere in the wiring leading to the temp guage, or at least, in that portion of the wiring system. Could be that, or could be a bad sensor guage. Usually these are threaded into the side of the thermostat head. Look at autozone.com and look up coolant temperature sensor for your specific car. Change it by yourself. They’re pretty cheap, and it’s an easy job.
