Gps Topographical or Inland or neither?
I am wondering if someone can give me some suggestions on whether I should a GPS with Topographical or inland lake maps ot nothing at all.
I’m looking at puchasing a GPS to be used for hikes and camping and road travel. What would you suggest.
As it is I am looking at purchasing either a Garmin Colorado or a Garmin Oregan. Suggestions?
What I need is something that is easy to operate one handed. I plan on mounting the GPS on my motorcycle as well as use it for hikes, walks etc. These is the reason why I was leaning towards the Oregan or Colorado
You’re choosing a Garmin, which is good. But I would skip the Colorado/Oregon series. Those units are not well designed. My sister has an Oregon, and I think the thing is junk. The screen is very hard to read, the GPS reception is lousy, and it drinks batteries like a fish.
I started out owning an etrex Legend, which was good, and now have a 60Cx, which is a wonderful device. I would get something similar, with the topographic and road maps. The inland lake maps are for boating.
And if you have any problems, Garmin tech support is the best on the planet. Seriously. I have never had people work so hard to help me.
Edit: the Colorado/Oregon series claims to be good for one handed use, but isn’t really. And you won’t be able to read the screen at all in sunlight.
