Anyone had their car stereo stolen? Did you replace it? Did you take additional safety measures?
I got my window broken and my car stereo stolen. I want to replace it, but really don’t want to waste the time and money if it’s only going to tempt someone to break my window and steal it again. I would like to hear from someone who has actual experience with this.
I thought about tinting the windows, hiding the head unit, or putting a cheap stereo faceplate over the new one as a facade, but I don’t know how likely the same person is to come back to the same car. Because if they do, all of the aforementioned will probably be a big flag that says “STEAL ME.”
And I really really don’t want a car alarm because I, like everyone else, would probably ignore it thinking that it was a false alarm. Also, annoying.
This happened in front of my house at night, so there’s not much that I can do about the location of parking. And while my immediate neighborhood is not “bad,” it’s only a few blocks to the not-so-great area.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
