2004 Jeep Wrangler blinker issue?
Recently purchased the new fender flares for my '04 Bushwhacker Wrangler Sport. During installation, the instructions called for cutting the flashing side factory from his son that included a side turn signals LED can be installed in its place. The instructions advise crimp connectors included male son to the factory cut side of the light flashing of origin. Next step was to crimp sockets son flashing LED so that it can be connected directly to the factory wiring. After installing everything according to the instructions included, tested and side LED blinkers worked. Later that night, I noticed when I turned on the parking lights flashing LED lights are not on the side, nor do they flash when the signal left or right. Was curious as to why the blinkers would work with the parking lights / headlights off, but would be ineffective when they were in?
LED will light when electricity passes through them in the correct direction. To use the LED repeaters you need to use those with rectifiers built or build your own bridge rectifier using diodes to be spliced into the wire in of the wing. Repeaters are typically mounted flare wired. They do not have normal positive and son on the ground. The bulbs are wired in two circuits positive supply. When the lights are off and the indicators flash on the lamps because they are grounded through the lighting circuit. When the lights are on and the indicators which causes the effect when the wig-wag lights are on. I LED side markers in my 97 TJ, and had to build my own bridge rectifier circuit so that they would work like light bulbs. I can not find the post I have made on this subject but here http://www.jeepforum.com scheme I've always hosted. Top is a bulb that lights up with the current range anyway. Bas is a LED that uses diodes to allow current from either direction, but still pass through the diode in the right direction to turn.
