As for the blowing of your sound card, it is unlikely. to be sure, look at the sub-woofer for evaluation ohm or a number by the Greek symbol Omega. They are generally 4 or 8 ohms. if it is not the case, it should be on the speaker magnet. multiple amplifiers in sound cards can handle both read the specifications if the sound card.
