Crosse Wireless
Is it possible to send/receive information from wireless devices not intended to interact with a computer?

For instance: I have a 915 MHz La Crosse Technology weather monitor. Can this be broadcasted to/from via WiFi, Airport (Mac), Bluetooth, etc? I also have a TV antenna capable of connecting to my USB port if that’s any help. I don’t quite understand the nature of what makes a device capable of interacting with a computer. As long as it is capable of wireless transmission, there should be a way to hack in, shouldn’t there? Thanks.

The problem is, in order to save costs, your transmitter does NOT have a programmable component! So your frequency is fixed within the band that they give you!

If you have a full suite of equipment(signal gen, oscilloscope, tracer, and all that) then of course you can figure out how to talk to that device and rig up some sort of a transceiver to talk to that thing.

But most people don’t, and that’s the end of that.

You should really do a bit of research on what freqs WiFi, Bluetooth, and so on uses (AirPort is still WiFi). You’ll find that none are near 915 MHz.
