is it safe to replace the connector in a UPS that you attach a 12volt/12amp battery to?
I have an APCC Smart-UPS 1000 battery backup system. I went to replace the battery inside (12volt/12amp) battery and connected it incorrectly. (positive wire to negative battery terminal and negative wire to positive terminal).. one of the connectors shorted out and got fried. i want to cut off the connector and put a new crimp-on one in its place. is it safe for me to cut the wire, splice it and put a new terminal on. Of course the unit would be unplugged from the wall when and if I did this. I just wanted to make sure it was safe to do and if there is anythign else I should do before cutting it. I really dont think there would be an issue but i figured asking first wouldn’t hurt.
you’ll be fine just dont touch any of the other terminals with the crimping tool. just in case, make sure you wear some good shoes or boots and stand on a rubber mat or carpet with rubber on the back.
