GMRS radio frequency to use in USA (two way radios)?
So I’m driving from Canada to the US with another group. As we will have two cars and would like to avoid roaming charges, I figured it would make more sense to use two GMRS radios to keep in contact while we drive.
The question is I am unaware of what the laws are regarding radio frequencies and which ones are save to use vs which ones must be avoided.
Does anyone know what channels/sub channels I can use south of the border as I travel in Albany and New Jersey?
You need a license with the FCC for GMRS.
You can use FRS and CB with no license. The frequencies are the same in The USA and Canada for that. Just use your best judgment for what channel to use.
