Why does my car lose power of the engine while I was driving?
I was driving on a city street yesterday and my automatic 2006 VW Passat lost power. The radio and all remain on drunk when I step on the gas without engine power. The battery light came on and temperature gauge was normal. I coasted to the side of the road, turned off the engine and turned it back on and everything worked well. It's a little concerning however, that this could happen on the highway or to my wife while she was driving with children. The car only has 40k miles on it. Any help?
I own a 2000 Audi A4 (same engine and tranny that VW). The VW has many safety factors to prevent damage to itself. But sometimes these "safety" factor kicked in for no reason. Take him again and he could be gone for good. If it returns, then the only solution is (a) go to the dealer or a VW specialist (b) buy VAG-COM scan. I have a scanner VAG-COM and I think it is worth the money. It tells you a lot about the car and house. Good luck …
