For all marching band pepole out there, what is the best thing about marching band season?
I am a senior now and I have been clarinet section leader for 2 years and in marching band for 4 years and I think the best thing about marching band is the friendships and good times spent at practices and at the competitions. That makes it all worthwhile through the great times and the not-so-great-times.
Wow, great question! I graduated in 1980 and was in marching and concert band during highschool. I, too, played clarinet! I also had 2 brothers in band (trombone and trumpet). And, you’re right, the friendships are invaluable. Even today there’s a group of us “band-ites” that get together every so often for dinner. I still go to my old highschool’s band reviews and keep track on how they’re doing. One year we swept field and street up in Oregon! Not too bad for a California school! Actually, we had an AWESOME band!
